Donations - By SMS Text Message

Text Donations by donr (UK network operators)

Simply text our unique keyword SISTERS followed by a space followed by the amount in pounds sterling (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 or 20) to 70085.

Texts cost the chosen donation amount plus one standard network rate message. Please check your operator's terms and conditions before texting.

This service uses a donation keyword sent to a short-code number for use in the UK. When you make a text donation, it'll either be deducted from your mobile phone credit or added to your mobile phone bill and you won't pay any VAT on your donation. Messages containing only our keyword are processed at a default value of £5.

The text donation service, donr, deducts 5% from your donation to cover the cost of the service. To find out more about that service, visit their website.

We need your help

The team relies heavily on public donations to maintain our income and therefore our effectiveness. The small population living in our area of operation means that donations from those living further afield are extremely important to our efforts to make this a safer place for locals and visitors alike.

Support Us

The team is a registered Scottish charity (registration number SC004625). We are supported financially by a mixture of public donations, grant aid and support from other charities.

A basic level of grant aid comes from the Justice Department of the Scottish Government and is distributed by Scottish Mountain Rescue. Support from other charities and grant aid provide only a portion of the money required to pay for the training, equipment, vehicles and facilities essential for the operation of a modern rescue organisation. Each rescue operation costs the team several hundred pounds to undertake, while it costs substantially more to equip each team member to enable them to be safe on the hills.

We therefore rely heavily on public donations to maintain our income and therefore our effectiveness. The small population living in our area of operation means that donations from those living further afield are extremely important to our efforts to make this a safer place for locals and visitors alike.

Public donations come in many forms. These include collection boxes in shops and tourist attractions, as well as 'Where to Walk' booklets which are available for purchase at the base.

Here are some of the ways you can support us:

Donations - Locally In Out Collection Cans

If you are in our area then look out for our collection cans in retail, hospitality and other premises across the region. Please donate.

Donations - By Cheque

You can also donate by writing a UK cheque, payable to Kintail Mountain Rescue Team and marked 'Donation' on the reverse, and posting it to the address found on our 'Contact Us' page.

Donations - Bequests and Wills

Please write to our TREASURER at the address on our 'Contact Us' page. Please note - your final documents will require our charity registration number: SC004625

Donations - On Our Just Giving Page

The Team has a JustGiving account that is currently being upgraded so that we can offer you more ways to donate. The upgraded account is not yet available. Please be patient with us.

Donation - Tax Relief (Gift Aid)

The Team is currently making arrangements for Gift Aid. This is the HMRC system that applies tax relief by adding to the charitable donations given by UK taxpayers. This facility is not yet available to us. Please be patient with us.

Sponsorship

You can help by fundraising on our behalf. Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to find out what we need specific funding for.

Help Us Build A New Base

Our normal levels of financial support are not sufficient for the capital expenditure that sometimes becomes necessary. Indeed, a portion of our financial support is conditional and it cannot be used for that purpose.

Our base at Morvich is part of an old byre that was extended to provide a garage. Despite our best efforts this building is becoming difficult to maintain and the facilities are inadequate for training and operating a modern rescue team. The building is not even adequate for storing the range of increasingly sophisticated equipment that we need for rescues. To provide appropriate facilities we have begun additional fund-raising efforts aimed at raising the substantial sum required to build a new rescue base.

Please help if you can. We are grateful for donations no matter how small. We are keen to hear about charitable trusts and grant-giving bodies that can help.
