Kintail comms officer receives Distinguished Service Award

Kintail MRT’s legendary communications officer Jim Fraser has been recognised for his long and dedicated service to mountain rescue in Scotland.

Jim was presented with a Distinguished Service Award by Scottish Mountain Rescue at their annual conference in March 2026 for his outstanding contribution over 37 years with the team, as well as for his wider work supporting and improving relationships with Search and Rescue helicopter services.

2025: The busiest year in Kintail MRT's history

Kintail Mountain Rescue Team has had a record-breaking year in 2025, with more callouts than ever before and a number of important changes taking place.

The busiest year in the team’s history saw the volunteers respond to 34 callouts, with a total of 40 casualties attended to.

These included calls to assist neighbouring teams including Skye and Glenelg, who the team have been working more closely with over the last 12 months. It’s been a while in development, but the team are pleased to announce the completion and arrival of our new control vehicle, known as Kintail Sprinter.

The team would like to express its gratitude to all those who took part in the Open Gardens event in Plockton this past Saturday, hosted by Plockton and District Horticultural, Arts and Crafts Society.
The event raised an incredible £ 405.05 for Kintail Mountain Rescue, so a massive thank you to everyone who donated. We are very grateful for the support!
