From
time to time Kintail Mountain Rescue Team needs to recruit new members.
These may be either hillworkers or recreational mountaineers. They must
be resident in the area, physically fit and ready to contribute to the
team effort.
The ideal recreational candidate is a competent summer and winter hillwalker
and has some first aid training. Experience of climbing (or caving ropework),
radio procedure, helicopter operations, avalanche awareness or advanced
first aid is a welcome bonus.
Those not involved in mountaineering but whose work takes them regularly out into wild country on foot may have a substantial skill base that is different from that of the recreational mountaineer but which is highly valuable for mountain rescue.
BECOMING
A MEMBER
If
you know a member of the team then feel free to approach them and ask about
whether we need knew members. Otherwise, write to us at the address given
on the Money page.
Prospective members should discuss their training and experience with the Team Leader
and the Training Officer. Those who satisfy the basic requirements should
attend monthly training exercises for a probationary period after which
they may be added to the callout list.
