We
are a voluntary organisation with a written constitution and run by
a committee elected from amongst our members. We have a typical membership
of about 25 volunteers who live around the team area and have demonstrated
the necessary skills and commitment. Or the other interpretation is
that we are 25 over-grown kids who accept any excuse to get out on the
hill.
When someone is in trouble on the hills in our area, the police are called
and if it requires a mountain rescue callout, we are alerted by SMS message or
telephone call.
We organise our own training and decide upon our own training standards. We
are affiliated to the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland.

We
are launching an appeal for funding to develop a new building. The existing
buildings are expensive to maintain and don’t provide the facilities
needed to run an efficient front line emergency service.
Our
first fund-raising event for this appeal is a sponsored cycle. We will
visit all 4 compass points of mainland Scotland in one continuous relay
cycle. Starting from our base at Morvich, we will have riders on the
road 24 hours a day for as long as it takes to visit the most Northerly,
Easterly, Southerly and Westerly points before returning to Morvich.
We will set off on May 21st and aim to be back on the 26th.
